Upcoming Fall 2013 Releases!

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to share some upcoming new releases for this Fall that I am excited about. But first I wanted to say that I'm sorry about my lack of blogging lately. I have not been posting hardly any book reviews, but I have not read much that I have wanted to review. I read a couple book already this month that I might do a review on. They are all companion novels to each other so I might just do a 3 in 1 review on all of them. Now onto the books that Im excited about!! First and foremost, Nicholas Sparks new book comes out next month so I will be talking about that, and there are alot of YA books that are part of series that I love coming out in October and November!

Asylum By Madeleine Roux coming out on August 20th. This book is about a guy who joins a college prep program, but his dorm room used to be used for an Asylum for the criminally insane. This book sounds so good, I love books about Asylums and crazy people. I find these topics really interesting so I am excited about this book!!

The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks coming out on September 17th. I am a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and I really can't wait for this book!! I think he usually releases (or use to) a book every year, but I'm pretty sure it's been two years since his last book came out. It's been way too long since I have indulged a Nicholas Sparks book.

All the Truth That's in Me by Julie Berry coming out on September 26th. This book is about two girls who went missing from their town 4 years ago, but two years ago only one returned. Now she is unable to speak and lives life in silence, but when their town is attacked again she has to decide if it's time to speak up about what happened or continue to be silent. This book sounds really good and interesting! I can't wait to pick this one up.

Revealed (House of Night book #11) By P.C. Cast coming out on October 15th. This is a series that I've been reading for years! I can't believe that this is the 11th book in the series. 11 books in a series is a little excessive in my opinion, but hey whatever I keep reading them. This use to be a favorite series of mine but I haven't enjoyed the later books in the series as much as the beginning ones. Every time a new book comes out I pretty much forget what had happened in the previous one, so they are hard to get into. But regardless I will still read this one.

Allegiant (Divergent book #3) by Veronica Roth coming out on October 22nd. I feel like I've been waiting for this book to come out for so long. I absolutely love this series and I can't wait to read this one. These book are so amazing and I can't wait to see how the series is going to end!

The Iron Traitor (Iron Fey series #6) By Julie Kagawa coming out on October 22nd. This book is continuing Ethan Chase's story from The Lost Prince. I didn't enjoy The Lost Prince as much as the original Iron Fey series, but I do want to continue reading with this next book. Originally, The Lost Prince was suppose to have it's own series, but now the author has this new book matching the cover and title the the original Iron Fey series. Hmmm confusing.

Teardrop by Lauren Kate coming out on October 22nd. I wasn't a huge fan of Lauren Kate's Fallen series. I only read the first book and didn't like it so I never continued with the series. This new series of hers sounds really good and interesting, and it doesn't sound like anything I've read before. I'm excited to give this author another try with her new book coming out!

Champion (Legend series book #3) by Marie Lu coming out on November 5th. I read Legend and Prodigy a few months ago and this is a really good dystopian series. I also can't wait to find out what is going to happen in this book!

The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines series #4) By Richelle Mead. I think this is the book that I am most excited about this Fall. I can't wait to read it!! I'm pretty much going crazy waiting for it. The last book in the series was amazing and I think this one will be too. I'm a huge fan of Richelle Mead and her Vampire Academy series is one of my favorites. Bloodline is a spin off series, and I think it's just as great. I'm currently re reading the VA books, and I hope I can catch up and re read the first 3 Bloodlines books to get ready for this one!!

This is all for the upcoming releases that I'm excited about this fall!! I really can't wait for any of these books to come out!! Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Monthly Wrap Up for July 2013

Hello everyone! Today I am doing my monthly wrap up post for July. I read 4 books last month, and one of them was a re read for me. They were also all fantasy books, which made me kind of happy. I did not have much time to read last month, but hopefully I will this month. I know I have been saying that for a few months now, but summer is busy for me and I don't have much time to read *cries!*

Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins was the first book I read in July. This is the 3rd (and last I think) book in the Hex Hall series. I really loved everything about this book and this series is now one of my favorites. This was a great book and it never ever had a dull moment in it. I could not put this book down while I was reading it.

School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins. This is a spin off book to the Hex Hall series featuring a new main character. I was really excited to read this since I loved Hex Hall so much and I had really high expectations for it. Unfortunately this book was not as good as I thought it was going to be. It was not even comparable to Hex Hall and I didn't really enjoy reading this at all. You can read my review for School Spirits here.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. This book was a re read for me this month. This was my 3rd time reading this book and I was really excited to re read it again. This is one of my all time favorite book series. I love the world that Richelle Mead has created in this series and it's truly amazing how great this books are. Right now I am reading Frostbite, which is the second book in the series.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. I picked this book up because I love this author's other series, The Iron Fey. I was a little reluctant to read this because it's a dystopian book about vampires. I am kind of tired and over the vampire books (besides vampire academy lol) and I am also really picky about which kind of dystopian books I like. I heard this book was really good though, so I decided to give it a go. Sadly, I did not like this book at all and I don't even know how I got through all 400+ pages of it. I have not done a review on this book yet, but if I decide to do one I will elaborate more on why I didn't like it then.

This is all for my July wrap up post. Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Top 5 Favorite Books with Male Main Characters

Hey Everyone! Today I am going to do a post of my favorite books (top 5) that have male lead characters. I wanted to do this post because I find that being a girl, it's some times hard to read from a boys point of view. I'm not sure if it's just me or not but sometimes I don't connect well with a story thats from a male's voice. I have found a few books though that I love with male main characters so I wanted to share them here on my blog incase anyone else has the same problem as I do.

Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia. I wanted to list this one first because I think this might have been the first series that I've read with a male main character. I'm sure there has been others maybe in the past but I don't remember. I noticed right away while reading this book that it was hard to get into because I was use to reading from all female perspectives. I also lent a friend this book and she said the same thing. The main character, Ethan, is a really great character though and he is easy to read from. It took me a little while but once I got into the story it was no big deal.

The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa. This the the 4th book in the Iron Fey series, and it's the only one told from a male's POV. I really love this series a lot and I loved reading from Meghan's POV in the other three books, but reading from Ash's POV in this one was just as great. This just did such a phenomenal job at writing from Ash's POV. I think this is my favorite book in the series as well just because he was so wonderful to read from. I do have to say that while reading the spin off series, The Lost Prince, which has another male lead charter, I did not enjoy as much as reading from Ash's POV. Ash is probably one of my top male characters in general too.

Looking for Alaska by John Green. I know I've said this a million times, but John Green is amazing. He writes amazing books, and he writes amazing characters. I've actually loved all of his male lead characters, especially Miles (Pudge) from Looking for Alaska and I really enjoyed Quentin from Papertowns. I was going to list Papertowns as well in this post, but I decided to just mention it here because no one wants to here me write about how much I love John Green twice in one post. ;)

The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan. This is a series that I read a few years ago that I really enjoyed. Actually, I still have not read the last book in the series (sad) I don't know why but I never picked it up. I do think I read this one before Beautiful Creatures, (oops) but even though these books are great they are a bit more childish. They are from the children's section at the book store and I'm not saying that people who aren't children shouldn't read them, I just mean childish by the characters. I think the characters are middle school-ish ages? I'm not sure. Anyways, I think that the main character Percy being younger made it easy to read from his POV. OK moving on.

Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan. This is a new book that I've read recently, and even though it's a great book I wouldn't exactly call it a favorite. However, the main character Crash was a really great and well written character. He was really easy to read from, and this book is just so real that you kind of forget that you're reading from a males POV. It's more like sometimes is telling you a really intense story that you just have to listen to.

So this is my top 5 favorite male lead characters. There is alot of other books I could have included too, (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Outsiders, Harry Potter (duh), Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green). But I wanted to include Percy Jackson in this because it is a book that I haven't talked about before here on my blog. A lot of the books in my list, and the ones I just named are ones that I've already talked about a million times. Also, I wanted to say that I really love Adrain from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, and even though none of the books are told from his POV the next book in the series is going to alternate POVs from him and the other main character Sydney. I am so freaking excited!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Book Haul #5

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to do a book haul of all the books that I purchased throughout last month in March. I am excluding Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan because I have already done a review on this book (you can read it here)  so I don't feel the need to include it in a haul.

The Promise of Stardust by Priscille Sibley is a book that I randomly saw at Target while looking at books and I thought it sounded really good. I looked up reviews for this book on Goodreads and almost everyone gave this book a 5/5 or 4/5 stars! It's about a man whose wife is left brain dead after a terrible accident, and he knows that she would want to be taken off life suppose instead of living a slow and painful death. Then the doctors find out that she is pregnant and he is stuck with trying to decide to give the baby a chance. Now tell me this book doesn't sound completely amazing. I'm a sucker for sad heart breaking stories. Call me crazy but this book sounds beautiful.

Whats Left of Me by Kat Zhang. This is a YA book that I thought sounded really great as well. In this book, everyone is born with two souls but as they grow up one soul fades away. But for Addie and Eva, neither of them faded away and both of them still remain in one body. Finally Eva was said to be gone, but she's not and only Addie knows she's still there. This book sounds super interesting and amazing.

The Secret Circle by L.J. Smith. Actually this is the book I am currently reading and I will have a review up soon. I have been wanting to pick up this book for a while now because I started to watch the TV series when it came on the CW a while back. I absolutely loved the show, but I never finished watching season 1. I was skeptical about picking this one up though, because I don't exactly like this author. I've read quite a few other books by her before, and I never really enjoyed them but I thought I'd give this ones try because I really love books on witchcraft.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. Oh my god. I cannot wait to read this book! I just got it in the mail toady and I will definitely be reading this one first after I finish The Secret Circle. I went to pick this book up at Target last week the day after it was released and it was already sold out! I was so sad so I just ordered it online and had to wait for it to come in the mail. /cry.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. This is another book that has a lot of read ratings and reviews on Goodreads. I think this one is a newer release just in the past month or two (I could be wrong). I've been loving YA contemporary fiction lately and I can't wait to read this one.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. This is another one that I have been wanting to pick up for a while. I really love Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series, so I wanted to give this one a try too. I was also skeptical to pick this one up too because I'm not really into vampire books anymore but I've herd good things about this so why not? Also, I'm kind of sad that they changed the cover for this book. I really liked the old one better.

Hate List by Jennifer Brown. This book sounded really good to me and interesting as well. It's about a girl named Valerie and her boyfriend Nick who both make a hate list for people they dislike but Nick uses this list to pick his targets when he brings a gun to school.

That is all for my book haul. I hope you all enjoyed and Happy Reading! :)

January Wrap Up

Hey Everyone, today I am going to be doing my January warp up post for all of the books I read last month. I can't believe it's already February! I had a really good reading month in January, I read a total of 8 books! I'm also excited about a lot of the books that I plan to read this month.

-The first book I read this month was the 4th Harry Potter book. I started The Goblet of Fire back in December as part of my re reading books challenge. I started reading this one towards the end and never got to finish it so I decided to include it in this monthly wrap up. I absolutely love re reading Harry Potter books. It's one of the best feelings in the world. I am planning to re read the last 3 books sometime in the near future.

-Ask the Passengers by A.S. King. I absolutely adored this book. A.S King is a truly amazing author and I can't wait to read more books by her. I was really engaged into the story line of this book and I read it really quickly. It's such a wonderful book about self discovery, finding out how to be yourself and feel conformable with who you are. It's a really moving story that I just loved everything about. You can read my full review of this novel here.

-The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This is another book that I really adored as well. I wanted to read it because the movie was made, which I have not seen yet, but I couldn't believe I never read this book before. The main character, Charlie was just so wonderful and innocent and I just wanted to squeeze him. (Ok that sounds weird). He has such a big heart and cares so much about everything and everyone around him. This was also a quick read, and I am really excited to see the movie! You can also read my review for this book here.

-Doll House and Paper Dolls by Anya Allyn. I read the first 2 books in the Dollhouse series which I purchased on my kindle. The first book, Dollhouse, was free from bookbub.com but it was regular $2.99. I purchased the second book for $3.99. These books gave me a lot of mixed feelings about them. I liked them, but I didn't like them. They were just okay for me. They were probably the strangest books I've ever read in my life, and the writing style kind of sucked. None the less, I will probably pick up the 3rd book when it comes out if I still remember what happened in them. You can read my reviews for both of the books here.

-Paper Towns by John Green. This is another book that I really loved this month. John Green is such a great writer and his books never disappoint me. He writes such phenomenal characters, and I just can't say enough great things about him or his books. I also wrote a review on this book here.

-The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. This book was another one that was just okay for me. I really love the original Iron Fey series so I had really high hopes for this book and I heard great things about it. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed, but I am trying to be optimistic with it at the same time. I will definitely continue reading the next books in the series when they come out. My review for this book is here.

-Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. This book was recommended to me by two different people. It's a memoir about Augusten Burroughs and his screwed up life. I don't know how else to describe this book lol. Anyone who has read this knows what I am talking about. It really did enjoy this book, but sometimes I don't have much patience while reading memoirs because they tend to go slow and I just want to know what happens. I did not do a review for this book and I am not planning on doing one. However, I do want to see the movie and I might do a movie/book comparison post.

This is all of the books that I read last month, I did try to read Delirium by Lauren Oliver, but I couldn't really get into the story. Hopefully I will try again someday soon and try to finish it. Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Book Review: The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

Today I am going to be sharing my review for The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten) by Julie Kagawa. This is the first book in the Call of the Forgotten series, which is sort of a spin off series to The Iron Fey series. This series takes place 13 years later with a new main character and such. I am a huge fan of the original Iron Fey series so this was a highly anticipated book for me. I will post the summary down below and then I will share my thoughts on the book!

Summary from goodreads:

Don’t look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase’s unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he’d dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister’s world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

So basically, this book stars Ethan Chase, who is Meghan Chase's younger brother. In the very first book in the Iron Fey series, The Iron King, Meghan gets shoved into the world of Faery because Ethan (who is very young at the time) gets kidnapped and was brought into the Nevernever and she has to go rescue him. So it's thirteen years later, and Ethan is the main character. Unlike his sister who is half fey, Ethan is completely human but he has Sight, which is the ability to see the Fey. They have caused nothing but trouble for him his whole like so he pretty much loathes them and wants nothing to do with them. However, Ethan gets sucked into the world of Faery once again even.

I did give this book a 4/5 stars on goodreads, but I really have mixed feelings about it. Like I said before, I absolutely loved the original Iron Fey series so I had really high hopes for this book. With that being said, I was kind of disappointed. There were a number of things that bugged me about this book, Ethan being a major one of them. It's sad to say that I did not like his character very much, which really sucked for me because I thought Julie Kagawa did such an amazon job in her last book writing from Ash's POV so I really expected to like Ethan as well. I found him to be really annoying, he's really moody all the time and just has such a bad attitude. This totally threw me off. He got a little bit better as the book progressed but it wasn't enough to significantly change my opinion of him.

I really liked the concept of the story line in this book, but it started off really slow. It took over 100 pages for Ethan and his companion to get into The Nevernever and into Faery. This book is a perfect example of why I like reading high fantasy novels much more than kinds like this. I don't know how to explain it, but this book for me (even though Ethan is human) had too much human world and action for me. Like all I wanted was for them to be in the Nevernever more and have more of an adventure there (kind of more like Meghan's story). I know that might be kind of unfair for me to say, but non the less I was just bored during a lot of the story. I was also hopping to see more from the previous characters in this book. I was happy that Grimalkin was in this story sort of a lot though, since he is one of my all time favorite characters from this series. It was nice to see Puck and Ash make a few quick appearances, but I really wish there was more of Meghan in this story.

Besides Ethan's being the main character, there were his companions in this book Kenzie and Keirran. Unfortunately I already knew who Keirran was from reading the short novella The Iron Prophecy, which is fine but I feel like the story would have been better if I didn't know who he was and got to find out during this book. I wasn't a fan o Kenzie very much, either. She was also sort of annoying and it bothered me how she was always calling Ethan "tough guy". I really didn't like their relationship together either, I can't exactly put my finger on why but I just know something about it bugged me. I do like how Ethan opened up towards her and stopped acting like a complete A-hole though. It just seemed like the two of them lacked some kind of chemistry for me.

The reason I did give this book a 4/5 stars (I would probably would have said 3.5 if goodreads would have let me lol) was because I did find the concept of the story good, it was just lacking a lot of things. I will continue to read the next books in the series when they come out because I do still have high hopes for them. Hopefully, this first book was just boring because it was getting the story going. If you have read the Iron Fey series then I definitely think this one is worth the read too because anything to keep a story going after you think it's finished is a win for me!

I hope you all enjoyed me review and happy reading!

Book Haul #3

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to share with you my first book haul of 2013! I did not purchase any books last December so I was definitely ready for some new books to be added to my collection. I still have tons of books that I purchased last year that I have not read yet but it's just a great feeling to buy new books.

The books I got were:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I am excited to read this book and it's one that I have been meaning to pick up for a while now. I have never read this or seen the movie but I've herd wonderful things about both so I can't wait!

An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns by John Green.  I absolutely love John Green. He is such a phenomenal writer and he has quickly became one of my favorite authors. These are the only two books I have not read by him yet. I have been wanting to order these online and I finally did and I am so happy. I have yet to be disappointed by any of his book so we shall see how these ones are. :)

Ask The Passengers by A.S King. I have not read anything by A.S King but I have herd wonderful things about this book from friends and it has a lot of great reviews. After reading the description of this book I looked up her other books as well and I definitely want to read them also.

The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. I am in love with The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I was so sad when the series ended but I was so excited when I herd the author was writing another book set in the same world with a new main character. I herd that this book is great also and I can't wait to read it.

This is all for my book haul so you can expect some book reviews from me in the near future! I hope you all enjoyed my book haul and Happy Reading!

November Wrap Up

Hey all! It's time again to make my monthly wrap up post for all of the books that I read this month. This month in November I read 8 books! (woo hoo!) This has been the most books I've read in a month in quite a while and I'm so excited about it. A few of the books I read were fairly short, but this month was definitely a great reading month for me. The books I read are: Hidden by P.C Cast, which is the 10th book in the House of Night series. The Deepest Cut, The Haunted, The Departed, The Beginning: The MacKinnion Curse all by J.A Templeton which is the whole MacKinnion Curse series plus a short novella that is the prequel book. Damaged by Cathy Glass. Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia which is the 4th book in the Caster Chronicles series. And Lastly, I read Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa which is a collection of 3 novellas that are part of the Iron Fey series. I really enjoyed each book I read this month, and I'm going to tell you a short summary of my thoughts on each one.

Hidden by P.C Cast-
This is the 10th book in the House of Night series, and while I do love reading these books I also have a love/hate relationship with these books. I always forget what happens in them before the new books comes out, so by the time I start reading them I never know whats going on. This makes reading the books a little less enjoyable, BUT by the time I'm half way through or so I get sucked into the story and the ending are always awesome! I did not do a review on this book but I look forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out.

The MacKinnion Curse series by J.A Templeton-
I really enjoyed this series a lot. It's one of the best ghost series that I've read. The first book had me hooked, and I finished the whole series within a week. I have my review for all 4 books here.

Damaged by Cathy Glass-
This was a wonderful and heartbreaking story of an 8 year old girl who has been abused by her parents in every possible way told from the POV of her foster mom. This book has extremely mature content in it, and it's not pleasant to read and it also non fiction and a true story. This book will break your heart but it will also give you hope as well. You can read my full review for this book here.

Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia-
This is the 4th and final book in the Caster Chronicles series and it was absolutely amazing. I love this series so much and I was sad to see it come to an end but this book was a great conclusion to the series. I look forward to reading more works by this author in the future and I can only hope that it will be as great as this series was! You can read by review for this book AND see the movie trailer for the first book Beautiful Creatures here!

Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa-
This is a collection of 3 short novellas written in the Iron Fey series. This is another one of my all time favorite series and these 3 novellas were no exception to the greatness in this series. These stories are written in between the books, and I especially liked the last story because it happens after The Iron Kinght (which is the last book in the series) so it was nice to see what happens after the series is finished. In this book I think it has a little bit of foreshadowing for Julie Kagawa's new book called The Lost Prince, which takes place in the same Faery world but in the future with a new main character. I cannot wait to read The Lost Prince and continue to get lost in the world that Kagawa hs created.

This is all for my monthly wrap up post. I hope you all enjoyed and Happy Reading! :)
