Top 5 Favorite Books with Male Main Characters

Hey Everyone! Today I am going to do a post of my favorite books (top 5) that have male lead characters. I wanted to do this post because I find that being a girl, it's some times hard to read from a boys point of view. I'm not sure if it's just me or not but sometimes I don't connect well with a story thats from a male's voice. I have found a few books though that I love with male main characters so I wanted to share them here on my blog incase anyone else has the same problem as I do.

Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia. I wanted to list this one first because I think this might have been the first series that I've read with a male main character. I'm sure there has been others maybe in the past but I don't remember. I noticed right away while reading this book that it was hard to get into because I was use to reading from all female perspectives. I also lent a friend this book and she said the same thing. The main character, Ethan, is a really great character though and he is easy to read from. It took me a little while but once I got into the story it was no big deal.

The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa. This the the 4th book in the Iron Fey series, and it's the only one told from a male's POV. I really love this series a lot and I loved reading from Meghan's POV in the other three books, but reading from Ash's POV in this one was just as great. This just did such a phenomenal job at writing from Ash's POV. I think this is my favorite book in the series as well just because he was so wonderful to read from. I do have to say that while reading the spin off series, The Lost Prince, which has another male lead charter, I did not enjoy as much as reading from Ash's POV. Ash is probably one of my top male characters in general too.

Looking for Alaska by John Green. I know I've said this a million times, but John Green is amazing. He writes amazing books, and he writes amazing characters. I've actually loved all of his male lead characters, especially Miles (Pudge) from Looking for Alaska and I really enjoyed Quentin from Papertowns. I was going to list Papertowns as well in this post, but I decided to just mention it here because no one wants to here me write about how much I love John Green twice in one post. ;)

The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan. This is a series that I read a few years ago that I really enjoyed. Actually, I still have not read the last book in the series (sad) I don't know why but I never picked it up. I do think I read this one before Beautiful Creatures, (oops) but even though these books are great they are a bit more childish. They are from the children's section at the book store and I'm not saying that people who aren't children shouldn't read them, I just mean childish by the characters. I think the characters are middle school-ish ages? I'm not sure. Anyways, I think that the main character Percy being younger made it easy to read from his POV. OK moving on.

Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan. This is a new book that I've read recently, and even though it's a great book I wouldn't exactly call it a favorite. However, the main character Crash was a really great and well written character. He was really easy to read from, and this book is just so real that you kind of forget that you're reading from a males POV. It's more like sometimes is telling you a really intense story that you just have to listen to.

So this is my top 5 favorite male lead characters. There is alot of other books I could have included too, (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Outsiders, Harry Potter (duh), Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green). But I wanted to include Percy Jackson in this because it is a book that I haven't talked about before here on my blog. A lot of the books in my list, and the ones I just named are ones that I've already talked about a million times. Also, I wanted to say that I really love Adrain from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, and even though none of the books are told from his POV the next book in the series is going to alternate POVs from him and the other main character Sydney. I am so freaking excited!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

March Wrap Up 2013

Today I am going to do my March wrap up post and share all of the books that I read last month. I only was able to read 4 books last month, and I only did a review for one of them. Even though I enjoyed all of the books that I read, I didn't really find any of them wroth reviewing except for Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan. I have a lot of great books on my April TBR list and I hope I can get through more books this month than last.

Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult was the first book I read in March. I was really in the mood for a Jodi Picoult book so I picked this one because I had purchased it on my kindle for only $2.99. This is one of my favorite adult fiction authors and I have enjoyed every book that I read by her so far. I liked this book pretty well, but I only ended up giving it a 3/5 stars on goodreads. I really liked the concept of the story line in this book, but I did have a lot of issues with it as well. This book switched character POVs way too much and I didn't even know/care about half the people who were in it and I felt like it really took away from the story.

An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. This was the only book written by John Green that I had left to read. I really did enjoy this book a lot, but I didn't like it as much as his other books. None the less it was still amazing. I absolutely love John Green's books and all the characters in them. He always has that one funny character that makes the story great and makes me laugh. There is always a cute and quirky romance in it that isn't over the top that I love as well. I did find the main character in this one to be slightly annoying though.

Angel Falls by Kristin Hannah. Like Jodi Picoult, Kristin Hannah is another one of my favorite adult fiction authors, and I was really in the mood for one of her books. I enjoyed this book a lot, and it was a great story. I was pretty much hooked from even reading the back summary of it. Kristin Hannah is a really amazing writer and I've enjoyed all of her books that I've read also.

Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan. This is probably my best read of the month for me. This story is completely insane, heart breaking and one of the most intense books I've ever read. It is a story that will probably stick with me for a long time. Both the stories and characters are really unforgettable. You can read my full review for this book here.

This is all for my (short) March Wrap up post. Hopefully I will have more book to talk about this month than last. I am currently reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, the 3rd book in the Infernal Devices series. I have been waiting for this book for a really long time and I'm really excited to be finally reading it. I also have already finished one book this month which is the Secret Circle book one and two by L.J. Smith and I will have a review of this book soon!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Another Book Tag

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to do another book tag which I found while watching some Youtube videos. I am in sort of a reading slump this month so that is why I have not posted any book reviews lately. It's already almost halfway through March and I've only read one book so far :(. I have hopes that this months reading for me will get better because The Clockwork Princess is coming out in a week! Woo hoo!  I still wanted to keep my blog updated though so I thought I'd do a book tag!

1. What Book are you reading now? An Abundance of Katherines by John Green.

2.  What are you favorite books? I have way too many favorites to name. Definitely Harry Potter is my all time favorite books/series ever. Looking for Alaska by John Green. Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare etc. Night Road by Kristina Hannah. The Pact by Jodi Picoult.

3. How did you learn to read? How didn't I? o.O

4. What Foreign languages do you read in? None.

5. Whats the funniest book you've ever read? No book for this question is really is standing out to me. I'm not too sure I've exactly read a funny or humor book but I do find my self randomly laughing at books while reading. While reading John Green books I always find there is a character in all of this books that is humorous.

6. What books have changed the way you look at the world or the way you live your life? I'm not exactly sure how to answer this because every book that I read changes the way I think in some way or another.

7. What books have affirmed what you believe about life or the way you look at things? Same answer as above.

8. What are some of the scariest books you've ever read? I have not read a true horror books before, but I have read a few YA ghost books. Bad Girls don't die by Katie Alender and The MacKinnion Curse series by J.A Templeton were really creepy.

9. About how many books do you think you've read in your life? Well, I have over 200 books on my book shelf just from the past 2-3 years. So I'm going to guess 400-500?

10. About how many books do you own? 200-300 probably.

11. How many books per month do you usually borrow from the library? None, I buy all of my books because I like to own them.

12. How much would you say you've paid in library fines in your life? None. I don't even remember the last time I got a book from the library, and when I was younger my mom always made sure they were back on time.

13. Do you read in bed? Sometimes. I normally do all of my reading while I am at work. Before I spent all of my time at work, I would read at home in bed. If I am about to finish a book I sometimes will finish it before I go to sleep.

14. Do you ever read while walking or driving? That sounds dangerous.

15. Where is the strangest place you've ever read a book? I'm not sure if I've ever read in a strange place. Maybe in my car while it was parked outside? I'm pretty sure I was about to finish a book one time and I sat in my car after I got out of work and finished it before I drove home.

16. Do you listen to audio books? No I do not. If I was driving by myself for along period of time I probably would though. I would like to listen to an audio book but I have not yet.

17. Has any one ever read aloud to you or you to them? Yes, many times when I was in school.

18. What was the most difficult books for you to read? I have a hard time reading classic books. I tried to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin and Lord of the Rings many times but they were hard for me to pay attention to what was going on.

19. What books do you intend to read by keep putting off? The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Hobbit.

20. Do you buy new or used books? Paperbacks or Hardcovers? Normally I buy new books but I have bought used ones before and I'm not apposed to them. I buy both paperback and hardcovers.

21. How do you feel about writing in books? I never use to write in any of my books. I always fold the corners of pages in books when I find something that I like, but lately I have been wanting to highlight or underline things in my books that I like that are sentimental to me.

22. Do you lend out your books? All of the time. I always lend my books out to my close friends. I love sharing them.

23. What were your favorite books as a child? I loved Number the Stars when I was younger. That was my all time favorite book. And since Harry Potter came out when I was 9 or 10 I can count those too.

24. Which children's books do you enjoy? I have not read a children's book in a long time. Some people consider Harry Potter a children's series (I do not) and also I enjoyed the Percy Jackson series which is found in the children's section I believe.

25. Do you ever read the ending of the book first? No I do not. However sometimes when I'm checking to see how many pages are in the book my eyes wander sometimes haha.

This is all for the book tag survey, I hope you all enjoyed and Happy Reading. :)

Top 10 Love Stories (Valentines Day books!)

Hey Everyone! Today in honor of Valentines Day I'm going to share my top ten favorite love stories! I know Valentines Day was on Thursday, so this post is a little late but I still wanted to do it because I didn't have time to on actual Valentines Day. When I think of my favorite love story books, I naturally graduate more towards adult fiction books like ones written by Nicholas Sparks. I don't know why but in books like these I have found the best (or my favorite) love stories. All of my top ten books except 2 of them are adult fiction but I have two young adult books in there as well. I hope you enjoy this post and if you're in the mood for a sappy love story that will probably make you cry then please check out some of these books!

1. Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks. Like I said before, my first thoughts when I think of love stories is books written by Nicholas Sparks. I have read all of his books and they are really wonderful but a few of them have stuck out more than others and Message in a Bottle is one of them. I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. As I was reading all of the books written by him a few years ago, I started with the newer released ones so I read Message in a Bottle as one of the last ones. I think this was one of the first books he wrote but I was so late to read it. This book was really heart breaking but so wonderful at the same time. I absolutely loved everything about it.

2. The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. You know how we all have that one book that made you cry more than any other book ever has? This is that book for me. Even though It made me cry so much, a lot of it was tears of sadness but happiness too. This book was heart breaking but it ended up having a happy ending to it. It was such a fantastic book and I can't say enough times how great it is.

3. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. OK after this one, I promise I'm done with this author haha. This is my all time favorite love story (book and movie) I absolutely love this book but this is one that I seen the movie first, so naturally I am partial to the movie because that's what I knew of the story first. The movie is a little but different, but that's okay because I do love both the book and movie equally.

4. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. This is another love story that I really, really love. The time traveling in this book is beyond amazing. This is a very detailed book and it is sort of long but none the less wonderful. I also really enjoyed the movie of this book as well.

5. Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen. This one also is a great love story, and the movie was also enjoyable. It was a really great read that I read fairly quickly because I couldn't put it down.

6. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It's a lot different from the other love stories that I have read, but I think that's why I loved it so much. It didn't have over the top, head over heals in love kind of love story but a slow one that grows with time. It's such a beautiful story and I can't say enough great things about it.

7. Night Road by Kristin Hannah. I'm not exactly sure if this book would be considered a 'love story' or not. The love story in this book definitely isn't the main focus but it is one of my all time favorite books. The two people in the book who are part of the love story just go through so much together and still manage to be together in the end. It's so inspiring so that is why I'm including it in my favorites.

8. The Pact by Jodi Picoult. This is another one that has a lot of other focuses in the book rather than the love story. But like Night Road, it is one of my favorite books ever so I am including it because this book is so wonderful and heartbreaking.

9. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. This is one of the two YA books I am including because this book has a really amazing love story in it. The two main characters, Hazel and Gus have a wonderful romance that just melted my heart. I absolutely adored this book.

10. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I don't typically find a great romance in YA fantasy books/series but this one is one of the best (in my opinion). Rose and Dimitri's love and romance in this series is unbelievable and it my favorite love story in all of YA fantasy books. It's such a great forbidden love that it drove me crazy all through the books in this series. I was definitely rooting from these characters since book one!

This is all for my top ten love stories! All the talk about Nicholas Sparks books in the beginning makes me miss reading his books. I just might have to re read them soon! I hope you all enjoyed this post and happy reading! :)

January Wrap Up

Hey Everyone, today I am going to be doing my January warp up post for all of the books I read last month. I can't believe it's already February! I had a really good reading month in January, I read a total of 8 books! I'm also excited about a lot of the books that I plan to read this month.

-The first book I read this month was the 4th Harry Potter book. I started The Goblet of Fire back in December as part of my re reading books challenge. I started reading this one towards the end and never got to finish it so I decided to include it in this monthly wrap up. I absolutely love re reading Harry Potter books. It's one of the best feelings in the world. I am planning to re read the last 3 books sometime in the near future.

-Ask the Passengers by A.S. King. I absolutely adored this book. A.S King is a truly amazing author and I can't wait to read more books by her. I was really engaged into the story line of this book and I read it really quickly. It's such a wonderful book about self discovery, finding out how to be yourself and feel conformable with who you are. It's a really moving story that I just loved everything about. You can read my full review of this novel here.

-The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This is another book that I really adored as well. I wanted to read it because the movie was made, which I have not seen yet, but I couldn't believe I never read this book before. The main character, Charlie was just so wonderful and innocent and I just wanted to squeeze him. (Ok that sounds weird). He has such a big heart and cares so much about everything and everyone around him. This was also a quick read, and I am really excited to see the movie! You can also read my review for this book here.

-Doll House and Paper Dolls by Anya Allyn. I read the first 2 books in the Dollhouse series which I purchased on my kindle. The first book, Dollhouse, was free from bookbub.com but it was regular $2.99. I purchased the second book for $3.99. These books gave me a lot of mixed feelings about them. I liked them, but I didn't like them. They were just okay for me. They were probably the strangest books I've ever read in my life, and the writing style kind of sucked. None the less, I will probably pick up the 3rd book when it comes out if I still remember what happened in them. You can read my reviews for both of the books here.

-Paper Towns by John Green. This is another book that I really loved this month. John Green is such a great writer and his books never disappoint me. He writes such phenomenal characters, and I just can't say enough great things about him or his books. I also wrote a review on this book here.

-The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. This book was another one that was just okay for me. I really love the original Iron Fey series so I had really high hopes for this book and I heard great things about it. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed, but I am trying to be optimistic with it at the same time. I will definitely continue reading the next books in the series when they come out. My review for this book is here.

-Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. This book was recommended to me by two different people. It's a memoir about Augusten Burroughs and his screwed up life. I don't know how else to describe this book lol. Anyone who has read this knows what I am talking about. It really did enjoy this book, but sometimes I don't have much patience while reading memoirs because they tend to go slow and I just want to know what happens. I did not do a review for this book and I am not planning on doing one. However, I do want to see the movie and I might do a movie/book comparison post.

This is all of the books that I read last month, I did try to read Delirium by Lauren Oliver, but I couldn't really get into the story. Hopefully I will try again someday soon and try to finish it. Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Book Review: Paper Towns by John Green

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to share my review for Paper Towns by John Green. I finished this book today and I absolutely loved it. John Green is a phenomenal writer (I can't say that enough times LOL) and his books never ceases to amaze me. This is the 4th John Green book that I have read, and next to Looking for Alaska this one might be my next favorite (maybe). Now on to my review!

Summary from Goodreads:

Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows.

After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues—and they’re for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees of the girl he thought he knew.

So basically this book is about Quentin, or Q, the main character who grew up with his neighbor named Margo, and they were best friends when they were younger. They obviously grow apart during high school and Margo is pretty, popular etc. Q has a lot of friends but they don't run in the same crowd as Margo's friends. One night Margo shows up at Q's window in the middle of the night and takes him on adventure through town and he has the time of his life spending time with her. After that night, Margo runs away and disappears. Margo has run away before, but has always left clues to where she has gone. So Q thinks that she has left clues for him to find her, and he goes on a wild goose chase looking for her with the help of his two best friends. His friends Ben and Radar help him figure everything out, and he also makes friends with one of Margo's friends named Lacey. Q and everyone else soon finds out that the Margo they thought they knew, wasn't really the real Margo after all. As they are looking for clues they are trying to figure out the question no one really wants to ask, is Margo still alive?

I don't think I have ever read a book where an author was so great at writing their characters as John Green is at writing his. They have so much personality and are so well developed it's amazing. With that being said, I loved all of the characters in this book. Every single one of them. I really enjoyed Q's character because he is so determined to find Margo, and he's quirky and funny, and just so real. I also really like Margo because she was such a mystery to use a lot of the time, she reminded me of myself a little bit. She keeps a hidden notebook and is always writing. She has lot of interest that she doesn't share with anyone, like her record collection because these things are too personal. She leaves clues for Q in a Walt Whitman book, and I just love that. I feel like she is such a deep person and it's just amazing for us and Q to uncover that part of her.

The only issue I had with this book was that about after page 100 or so the book got a little slow for me and dragged a little bit. The first 100 pages or so while Q and Margo are on their adventure was great and fast paced, but then it slowed down until like last maybe 100 pages then it picked up again. I really liked the ending to this book as well. I really thought it ended perfectly but at the same time I always want to know more or what is going to happen after ending like this. I'm always sad to see them end because I just want so much more for the characters.  I gave this book a 5/5 stars on goodreads because I just adored this book so much!

I am currently reading The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa so look forward to a review on this book very soon!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review!

Book Haul #3

Hello Everyone! Today I am going to share with you my first book haul of 2013! I did not purchase any books last December so I was definitely ready for some new books to be added to my collection. I still have tons of books that I purchased last year that I have not read yet but it's just a great feeling to buy new books.

The books I got were:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I am excited to read this book and it's one that I have been meaning to pick up for a while now. I have never read this or seen the movie but I've herd wonderful things about both so I can't wait!

An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns by John Green.  I absolutely love John Green. He is such a phenomenal writer and he has quickly became one of my favorite authors. These are the only two books I have not read by him yet. I have been wanting to order these online and I finally did and I am so happy. I have yet to be disappointed by any of his book so we shall see how these ones are. :)

Ask The Passengers by A.S King. I have not read anything by A.S King but I have herd wonderful things about this book from friends and it has a lot of great reviews. After reading the description of this book I looked up her other books as well and I definitely want to read them also.

The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. I am in love with The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. I was so sad when the series ended but I was so excited when I herd the author was writing another book set in the same world with a new main character. I herd that this book is great also and I can't wait to read it.

This is all for my book haul so you can expect some book reviews from me in the near future! I hope you all enjoyed my book haul and Happy Reading!

December Reading Wrap up + Reading Challenge

Hello Everyone and Happy New years! I am so excited for this new year to be here and to get onto reading some really great books! Last month in December, I made a reading challenge for myself and my goal was to only re read books that I have already read. I have successfully finished my challenge and did not read any new books. I have been wanting to re read a lot of my books for so long and I am happy that I finally was able to. Also since I was not reading new books last month, I did not buy any new books either! This has probably been the longest I have gone with out buying books LOL. You can probably expect a huge book haul from me in the near future :).

Now I am going to share with you all of the books that I chose to re read and why I re read them as well.

-Harry Potter books by J.K Rowling. I re read the first three books in the Harry Potter series which are Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.I absolutely love the Harry Potter series and it will forever be a favorite series of mine. I have not read these books (especially the first few) in such a long time. It was great re reading them and I felt like I was re living my childhood a little bit! So those were 3 of the books that I re read this month.

-Looking for Alaska by John Green. This is definitely one of my all time favorite books and I could easily call this one my favorite book I've ever read (maybe). I am so glad that I chose to re read this one as part of my reading challenge. Looking for Alaska is a book that has stuck with me ever since I have read it the first time. It is a book that I couldn't stop thinking about even month after I read it. John Green is such a phenomenal writer.

-Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This is a book I haven't read in at least 10 years or more. I kind of bought this one in a spur of the moment on my kindle to include for my reading challenge. It is a fairly short book and I read it really fast. This was my all time favorite book as a child and I have read it multiple times during my childhood as well. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as I use to reading it this time around but none the less it is still a great book.

-The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. This is another book that I have read more times that I can count when I was younger. I don't think I have read this book in at least 5 years either, but I still absolutely love this book. It was really great re reading it and I'm sure this won't be the last time I re read it.

I am currently a little over half way through reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I really wanted to include this book in my December wrap up but I haven't been able to get much reading done in the past week. So this book will be included in my January book wrap up. I am going to be doing other reading challenges in the future, with different topics but I will probably also do another re reading challenge as well. However since I have been having such a great time re reading Harry Potter I might continue to read the other books now instead of waiting for a new reading challenge.

I hope everyone enjoyed my December Wrap up and thanks so much for reading!

What I Read in October

Hello Everyone! I have seriously been slacking on my blog posts, I don't think I have written on here for at least a month, sorry! I had read a lot more books last month in October then in the previous months when I started this blog and I had a lot of reviews planned out. Sometimes life gets in the way and we get side tracked with things, and my heart just wasn't into writing for a little bit. I am back now and I hope to write a lot of posts in the near future.

Anyways, here is my (late) October Wrap up! I read 5 books last month, which were The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead, Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan, Whispers at Moonrise by C.C Hunter, Hold Still by Nina LaCour, and I finally, finally finished reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.

-The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead was the first book that I read last month. I absolutely fell in love with Rchelle Mead's writing and the whole world she has created all over again when I read this. I put off reading this book for so long and when I finally read it I was like why didn't I read this sooner?! You can read my review for this book here.

-Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan was the second book I read this book. I know I say this about every John Green book I read but, this was definitely unlike any other book I have read before. His books keep amazing me with each one that I read. Both him and David Levithan are phenomenal writers and I encourage anyone who has not read any of their books to do so. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the other John Green books that I read, but I still really liked it because of the two different writing styles that were entwined into the book. It made a totally different and interesting aspect to my reading experience that I don't get in a lot of books.

-Whispers at Moonrise by C.C. Hunter was another really great book I read. It is the 4th book in the Shadowfalls series, and I sware with each book in this series the books just keep getting better and better. The next book in the series is going to be the final book and I'm so sad that the series is ending. This is such a great series in the YA fantasy/paranormal genre.

-Hold Still by Nina LaCour was another great contemporary novel that I have added to my collection. I read this one on my kindle, and it was a quick read. There were so many aspects in this book that I loved and it is one that I highly recommend. This was one of the books that I planned of doing a review for, but since that didn't happen I will include a mini review here. It has great character development in it, along with some amazing characters. It is about a girl whose best friend commits suicide and she finds her journal she leaves behind. It's a very emotional heart lifting book about their friendship and we get to see the main character heal and gain strength from her grief.

-Lastly, I finally finished A Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin which is the first book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire. I was so proud of myself for reading and finishing this book because it is so long (809 pages!) plus I own the mass market paperback edition so the writing is super tiny! Also, this book has a lot of detail and it's hard to read and pay attention to everything that is going on, at least for me. I tend to stay away from adult novels like this, but I loved the TV show so much that I wanted to read the book. I tried to read the book first, and I had absolutely no idea what was going on so I'm glad I watched the show first. I can't wait to read the next books in the series but they are a little overwhelming because all of the rest are 1000+ pages. Yikes!

This is all for my October wrap up post. This post was a little bit longer than my usual wrap up videos but I wanted to talked a little bit more about the books I read since I didn't do any reviews for them. This month I started reading both Hidden by P.C Cast (10th house of night book) and The Golden Compass but I wasn't really getting into either book. I am still trying to read Hidden so we will see how that goes! Thank you all for reading and have a great day :)

Book Haul #2

Hello Everyone! I wanted to share a book haul here on my blog of all the books that I recently purchased. Most of them are from Barnes and Nobel, I can not help myself when I go in there from buying too many books. Please ignore the horrible lighting on the picture below! I took it when it was dark in my house and apparently I don't have very good lighting ahh!!

The first book I purchased was The Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling. I got this one last week the day after it came out. I was super excited about this book because I was unaware that J.K was releasing another book! It was totally unexpected, so like a little fan girl I freaked out and went and bought the book. I can't wait to read it, and I will probably be starting it some time this weekend.

The Hobbit book that you see in the picture is actually an illustrated edition of the book and it is like a graphic novel. They had a huge display at Barnes and Nobel of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm a huge fan of LOTR and I thought this edition of The Hobbit was pretty cool. I have not read all of the actual book, so I may read this graphic novel edition first.

I also picked up another John Green book which is Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I recently read The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska and loved them both. I plan to read all of John Green's books so this one will be next on my list!

I was really excited when I seen Whispers at Moonrise by C.C. Hunter, which is the 4th book in the Shadow Falls series. I totally forgot it came out this month and I absolutely love this series so I was so happy when I seen it.

Lastly, I picked up The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa. This is a collection of three novellas from the Iron Fey series. I do want to read this but I don't think I will be reading it anytime soon. I don't exactly remember what happens in all of the books so I might get confused when I read the novellas because they are short stories in between the books in the series. I pretty much just wanted it to have it as part of my series collection LOL. It is on my fall TBR list though, so hopefully I will get around to reading it sometime this fall.

I hope you all enjoyed my book haul and thanks for reading!

September Wrap up

Last month in September I only read 3 books again. I read Tilt by Ellen Hopkins, Venomous by Christopher Krovatin, and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. However even though I only read three books, I read about 200 pages of A Game of Thrones, which I started at the end of August. I put down that book so I could read different ones because it was taking me forever to read. I hope to finally finish it this month in October.

I really enjoyed Tilt by Ellen Hopkins. It wasn't my favorite book that she wrote, but I still liked reading it. I didn't do a review on this book, but I gave it 4/5 stars on goodreads.

I also enjoyed reading Venomous by Christopher Krovatin. It was a fun and quick read but it has a lot of deep and mature content in it. It was different from any kind of book that I've read before. You can read my review on this book here.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green was my favorite book that I read this month. John Green is a phenomenal writer and this book definitely did not disappoint me. I did a review on this book as well, and I will leave the link to it here.

I'm currently reading The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead, which is the second book in the Bloodlines series. So far I'm enjoying it, but I don't remember all of what happened in Bloodlines so it's a little hard for me to get into. After this book I'm going to be reading The Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling. I am so so so excited for this book and I can't wait to read it. It was a pleasant surprise that J.K wrote another book!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed my (small) September wrap up!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: Book Review

Today I wanted to do a review on The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, which I just recently finished reading. This is the second book by John Green that I have read, and he is a phenomenal writer. I really enjoyed reading The Fault in Our Stars (however I liked Looking for Alaska better ^.^) so let's get started with my review!

Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 13, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

So the main character Hazel has thyroid cancer but she was given a medicine that keeps her tumors under control but has to be on oxygen at all times. Her parents want her to try to be a normal teenager, so they send her to this support group for people who have cancer, are in remission etc. At the support group she meets Augustus, who is in remission and he is definitely interested in Hazel. Augustus and Hazel become friends and eventually start dating as well.

One thing I loved so much about this book was Augustus Waters character. He is the perfect character and it's so hard to not adore him. He is sweet and witty, and has a lot of other great qualities to him as well. I absolutely love how he calls her Hazel Grace instead of just Hazel. I completely melted when he told Hazel he was in love with her. I loved the timing, the way he says it, just everything about that part just made me love the book so much more.  I loved Hazel as well, I loved her humor and how she was just a strong female lead character. I loved it when she opened her heart up and let herself love and be loved by Augustus.

There is so much about this book that I loved and it's just such a beautiful story. It's a book about cancer, but not about cancer at the same time. It is definitely a tear jerker, and it broke my heart in places too. The ending to this book was so perfect though, the last pages were such a great way to end the book and it made the story so complete. (so hard not to give any spoilers! And I know this doesn't make any sense at all to anyone who hasn't read the book haha!)

This is a book that I highly recommend reading if you have not, but I will warn you that it's a book that will most likely make you cry!

Thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed my review!

Book Haul #1

Hello Everyone! I'm going to share a small book haul with you from books that I purchased this weekend. Even though I have so many books that I have not read yet sitting on my shelf, I cannot help myself from always buying more books.

I purchased The second, third, and fourth book in The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin which are A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows. I'm still currently reading A Game of Thrones right now. I did not purchase the fifth book, A Dance with Dragons because I am waiting for the mass market paper back edition to come out because that is what my other books in the series are. I'm sure I won't be reading these anytime soon because they are so long but I wanted them a part of my book collection!

I also purchased The Fault in our Stars by John Green. This is one of the books on my fall TBR list and I am so excited to read it.

The last book I bought is Still Missing by Chevy Stevens. I have not herd anything about this book but it was recommended to me by one of my family members. It sounds really good and different from any book that I've read before so I am really excited to read it!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed my book haul!

August Wrap Up

Sadly I was only able to read 3 book last month in august, so my august wrap up entry is going to be a short one. Hopefully I will have more time to read this fall than I did this summer.

Last month the three books I read were Tricks by Ellen Hopkins, The Pact by Jodi Picoult, and Looking for Alaska by John Green. I also started reading Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin at the end of the month but I'm no where near being finished. I might stray from the book to read some other ones because Game of Thrones is over 800 pages long ha ha.

I really enjoyed Tricks by Ellen Hopkins. I did not do a review for it but it is probably one of my favorite Ellen Hopkins books that I've read so far.

I loved The Pact by Jodi Picoult. I was totally blown away by this book. It's a very emotional read and it's a really amazing story. You can read my full review on the book here.

I also really loved Looking for Alaska by John Green. It's another one of my new favorites and I was really surprised on how much I enjoyed reading this book. You can read my review on this book here.

Overall I was happy with the books I read in August, I hope to have a bigger monthly wrap up post for you this month! Thanks for reading!!

Book Review: Looking for Alaska by John Green

Yesterday I finished reading Looking for Alaska by John Green. This book is a young adult contemporary novel that seems to be highly talked about and loved within the book community. This was the first book by John Green that I've ever read and I had really high hopes for this book. I can safely say that I was not disappointed one bit. I really enjoyed reading this book, and it was very different from any book that I've read before. I wasn't exactly sure what I was expecting for this book, but both the writing style and the whole plot/book it's self was different for me. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I ended up enjoying the book. Now onto my thoughts and the summary!

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

So this book is about a boy name Miles who goes to a boarding school in Alabama and leaves his family and old school behind. He didn't have many friends in his old school so he was excited to start something new while he was looking for his "Great Perhaps." While he is at his new school he meets some new friends and starts to fit in and find his place. The book goes through their lives at Culver Creek boarding school, it deals with real life issues, etc. Along with making friends with The Colonel, Takumi, and a girl named Alaska Young, Miles finds himself falling in love with her as well.

I really, really loved all of the characters in this book. I thought they had really strong personalities and great character development. Miles character grew so much in this book it was really amazing to see. I absolutely loved The Colonel. He was hilarious and so fun to read. My favorite character was Alaska Young. She deals with her own personal problems in the book which makes her a little mysterious at times because a lot of the time she doesn't share what she's going through. When she does share part of her self or past in the book it just makes her 10 times more amazing because it's so awesome when you start to understand who she is. Her character was so well written and beautiful, I felt like she was a real person and not just a character in the book.

This is definitely a book that I would recommend reading if you haven't read it yet. I cannot wait to read some of John Green's other book soon. I have put The Fault in our Starts on my fall TBR list but I will definitely be checking out his other books as well! I'm currently reading The Game of Thrones by George R.R Martin. This book will probably take me 10 years to read because its so long!

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my book review.
